Add some soul to your console

Like the middle child of a family, consoles are an often neglected piece of furniture. Be it our many online shopping parcels, breadwalas grocery, a bunch of keys that we can never find or the 3 million masks we've misplaced- we find them all parked on the already cluttered console. This piece of gorgeous furniture really deserves better and so today we will do something path breaking.

Repeat after me- I will bring my consoles glory back. I will give it the attention and love it deserves. I will sincerely avoid crowding it like a Virar local train bogie. Lets get started.

Step 1: If you're building your home afresh, try selecting a console that already has some drama/ design to it. This is the first step to do less but have a better impact.

Step 2: I cannot stress on this enough, mirrors are the ultimate 'glam givers'. Adding a decorative, shaped mirror or even a regular rectangular mirror to any space really adds some playfulness to it. When placed on the console it becomes your daily last minute OOTD selfie station before stepping out. After all, we're all a little vain.

Step 3: Layering is the key when it comes to styling anything. The same applies to our console. Add a story through pieces of art. Something you can look at and ponder for long hours. Here I've added a printed plate, you can add any artwork of your choice.

Step 4: How comforting is it to rely on a good ol' vase. There's so many choices when it comes to selecting a fresh vase. Be sure to purchase one that adds some height, colour and emotion.

Step 5: I believe that plants are the quickest way to brighten up any room. They are versatile, are available in abundance and a treat to the eye. So make sure to add some greenz to your console. It will elevate your mood instantly.

Step 6: Just like the tadka on your dal, a strong accent piece is needed to bring your console together. I call it the finisher piece. Let this decor object be small but significant. Add some oomph with a metallic decor accent and see how it livens up your console.

Voila! Pat yourself on the back. You've managed to resurrect the spirit of your dependable console. Remember that these are tips according to my design sense. Feel free to leave out some steps/ add steps of your own to make the space more 'you'. Please take very many pictures of your spin to this article and share them with me. I'd love to see!
